Best tour prank 2010

The best tour prank of this year would have to go to Daz, Ken & Glen for their sublime prank on our Lighting Designer,G' on our recent Australian tour.

While the lighting guys were at the venue doing positions, whatever that is... Daz, Ken & Glen went through their motel room and left untold little surprises for the guys.
When you get back from a show at 3am usually the second thing you do is have a feed, the first is a drink...if you haven't already done enough of that. Well to their surprise, their brand new loaf of bread was now hollow, their eggs were hollow, their salt was sugar and all sorts of other silly things that the guys wouldn't immediately notice..plus the Tv channels detuned, batteries removed from the remotes and the shower head pulled apart slightly enough to produce a spray that covered the bathroom.

But the best part was removing a whole chapter from G's book he'd been reading on the tour, and on the last day of the tour, after numerous photos taken with the book chapter, posting it back to New Zealand with the photos.
Once back in NZ Daz received a phone Call about a week later from G saying he'd just received an envelope from Australia. The funniest part of it all was that, he'd finished the book a couple of days after the tour and hadnt even noticed the missing chapter...haha. Must have a been a shitty book aye!

That was evidently a little payback for something really minor...dont mess with them.

Hey peeps! Nev here again.

The guys are all working away at next years show. Learning material, programming lighting and throwing various ideas around, we are really excited! Its gonna be O for awesome!

I'll be keeping yas all updated on behalf of the band so check in here for progress.

New Tour Artwork

Heres a preview of our poster for next years tours. Nice beach!
Boys reckon the planning etc for next years tour is coming along great. They just auditioned a percussionist on Sat..Dude called Jeremy from the NZSO and are really excited about incorporating him into the show. Lighting programming is coming along really good with lots of new ideas and some real freaky sruff happening with moving mirrors, plus with the recent purchase of 4 DL2 moving projectors and plenty of time to program them, its gonna be wicked!

home & sober

Well, that was an absolute blast!

Had the time of my life on tour... 1st time on a plane, hot Aussie chicks, Makers Mark bourbon, beer, great food and lots of other stuff that was new to this Gnomie!

Best food of the Tour would have to be Topolinos Restaraunt in St Kilda, Melbourne and some Argentinian joint in Adelaide that we nicknamed ‘Slabs of Meat R Us’ – amazing food! Not to mention Roast Pork Dinner with Rhubarb and Apple pie at GMacs in Queensland.

Worst food of the tour... well that would have to be anything that Qantas served up. Never eat their fish meal... that was really tragic! Also they are not the friendliest airline in the world and don’t handle any criticism at all!

Air NZ weren’t much better but at least you got a knife and fork to eat with and salt and pepper. Their Bean salad must have been bought from Qantas though as that was disgusting!

Anyway some of the guys took some great pics so I'll get the boys to put them up on the site asap.

We all had a real blast, met lots of awesome people and experienced some amazing hospitality. We love touring Australia and look forward to returning. Rumour has it though, that the guys are planning on sending me back to Invercargill very soon... they’d better not!

Anyway a huge thanks to everyone who supported our tour and to everyone who bought me drinks... burp!

Well after my little accident in Adelaide I thought I was going to miss the rest of the tour but after some major surgery in Brisbane, I’m back. Faster, stronger, wittier and even less politically correct than ever!

I love touring with these guys... Bourbon, Hot chicks and great food, I just gotta learn my place, evidently.

A quick update on the tour, it’s going great! We have done five shows and they have just been going off! The guys play the Palais in Melbourne tonight and then we party!

Once I sober up and straighten out a bit I'll put some pics on here and hopefully the guys will put some new audio and video on the website.

Yes, it’s true... we did take the Piss out on DomPost reviewer Simon Sweetman... and no, we don’t regret it one bit!

It wasn’t because Simon gave us a bad rap five years ago, it was because he still disses us even now, on his blog and on radio he is regularly heard slagging us off.

We apologise if we have offended anyone (apart from Simon, of course) but we have no way of defending ourselves from his one-man crusade to destroy our good name and our show’s credibility, so yes, Simon will probably continue to be the butt of our jokes and my non-politically correct views!

Rockin’ the Red Country!

hey gnomies!!!

Yep, it’s Nev here... having an absolute ball in oz. So far we have done shows in Perth and Adelaide with another show on tonight in Sydney!

I’m having the time of my life... well almost. I had a few too many Grolschs and fell off Daz's amp the other night. Then some clever roadie knocked me off the effects rack so I fell 2 metres to the floor breaking both my legs and now I may have to have surgery.

The boys have gaffered me up for now, but I’m still a little concerned. It doesn’t hurt though, as long as I drink lots of Germish, I can’t feel a thing!

Playing the Enmore tonight... yeah!!!

While over here I have also been having a spiritual awakening, as you can see above. Me and Buddha and Krishna hit it off really well and I might miss the show tonight and take them out on the piss!

Australian tour just about to kick off

Yes we only have about 10 sleeps left now before we fly out. All the gear has gone and there’s nothing to do now but wait. Just gotta stay out of trouble now!

We fly to Auckland and from there direct to Perth. Can’t think of anything worse than spending eight hours in a plane. Oh yes I can... 8 hours sitting by a rock pool in Invercargill and getting pissed on by the neighbours’ cat. Payback’s gonna hurt!

Gonna get me some of those speedos and while the guys are setting up the gear at the Burswood I’m gonna head down to Freemantle and see if I can find me a nice local lass to charm.

I've never been to Australia before, but I'm sure its gonna be a blast. Can’t wait to try all that Fosters and XXXX stuff the guys always laugh about... can’t be that bad can it? I’m sure they have Germish there too!

I’ve put a picture up of me on my first tour with the band in 2007. As you'll notice I wasn’t much of a drinker back then.

Ooh look at those horrible green pants, and that jersey... that’s hideous. What was Ma thinking? Thanks guys for the make over!
